Let’s talk about books, storytelling, and illustration.
I love sharing my passion for storytelling and illustration with students of all ages! I also love speaking with educators and librarians about using graphic novels in the classroom, and offer workshops for adults on creating comics of their own. My author visits are engaging, educational, and tailored to inspire creativity.

“We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Cindy Chang at The San Francisco School for a visit with our second through fifth graders, as well as some sixth graders. She was absolutely fantastic—engaging, warm, and inspiring. The students were captivated by her debut graphic memoir, How to Draw a Secret, and she left with a group of enthusiastic new super fans!
Cindy’s interactive approach made the experience truly memorable. She invited students to read her first chapter alongside her, led a drawing activity, and shared her writing and illustration process. Her ability to connect with young readers was incredible, and her visit sparked excitement and creativity across our classrooms.
One of the most powerful moments came when students eagerly shared, “She looks like me!”—a testament to how meaningful it was for them to see themselves reflected in her story. The impact of her visit was immediate; later that day, several third graders were already starting their own graphic novels inspired by their personal lives.
We can’t recommend Cindy Chang enough! Her visit was engaging, inspiring, and left a lasting impression on our students. If you have the chance to host her, do it—you won’t regret it!
